Biography

On graduation from law school in 1985, I was employed by the Honorable William J. Marchese, J.S.C. as his judicial law clerk. in June of 1986, I was hired by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and assigned to the Juvenile unit. While there I tried a number of juvenile cases before being transferred to the Adult Trial Section. From 1986 until 1990 I tried a large number of cases of all types, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assaults, Drug offenses, as well as Burglaries and Thefts of all kinds. In August of 1990 I was transferred to the Narcotics Task Force where I was assigned to handle a vast variety of drug cases from the routine to the at that time, newly created Leader of a Narcotics Trafficking Network. In December of 1990 after a three-week trial we received a verdict in the case of State v. Elijah Hamm, one of the first individuals charged with and convicted of being the Leader of a Narcotics Trafficking Network. Elijah Hamm was sentenced to a term of Life in Prison with Twenty-five years before Parole. The case was affirmed as was the sentence after numerous appeals and Post-Conviction Relief Applications. After a number of years, I was promoted to Senior Assistant Prosecutor in Charge of the Unit and finally in 2003 I was promoted to Chief Assistant Prosecutor and Director of the Narcotics Task Force. During my fourteen year stay in the Task Force I also became proficient in the area of Electronic Surveillance, commonly called Wiretaps.  In 2004 I was reassigned to the Grand Jury unit where I was responsible for presenting a wide array of cases to the Grand Jury and finally in 2005 I was once more assigned to the Trial Section and tried a number of cases until my retirement in 2013. Those cases included homicide and attempted murder as well as car-jacking cases and robberies.
